The Edge of Becoming
There is a moment when the world
no longer asks us where we've been,
but opens everything before us
and quietly asks where we will go.
At the edge, nothing is motionless.
Water falls with ancient force.
Clouds travel between mountains.
Light crosses impossible distances.
Cities rise beside wilderness,
and distant worlds turn silently overhead.
Yet within all that movement,
there is a place to simply observe.
The edge is not only a boundary.
It is where certainty meets possibility,
where what has already formed
stands beside what has yet to become.
Behind us are the paths that carried us here—
every choice, every discovery,
every moment that changed direction
without announcing where it would lead.
Ahead is something different.
Not emptiness.
Potential.
The horizon stretches beyond what can be measured,
water divides and reunites,
mountains disappear into distance,
and life continues in countless directions at once.
Perhaps becoming was never about arriving.
Perhaps it is the ability to remain present
while everything continues changing around us—
to carry experience without being confined by it,
to recognize beauty without needing to possess it,
and to move when movement feels natural.
Even at the greatest heights,
the smallest moments remain meaningful:
a companion beside us,
a stranger crossing the water,
a light appearing in the distance,
a tree that has endured long enough
to watch generations come and go.
The universe does not seem finished here.
Neither are we.
Creation continues beyond the horizon,
beneath the water,
through every living thing,
and somewhere inside the observer
who has become part of what is being observed.
So we stand near the edge—
not to conquer what lies beyond,
but to recognize its invitation.
One world behind us.
Countless possibilities ahead.
And between them,
The Edge of Becoming.
